Are Psychics Real? How to Determine If Yours Is Real

When you’re looking for answers about your career, your love life, or just want to see if you can get re-centered, you’ve likely considered seeing a psychic.

Unfortunately, there are many fakes in the industry, and we know you’re asking yourself, “Are psychics real?” Short answer: some are, some aren’t.

Here, we’ll help you make sure you’re seeing the right kind of psychic.

Are Physics Real? Confronting The Bad Seeds In The Industry

It’s frustrating to see stories in the news about psychics that have scammed people out of over $2 million – all it does is make genuinely gifted and highly caring psychics lose credibility.

This bad press has understandably made some people reluctant about seeing a psychic. A psychic that scams clients usually makes about $200,000 a year off the bad karma they’re incurring.

But the reality is that the vast majority of psychics aren’t just real, but highly educated. They’re published authors, college graduates, speak multiple languages, talk to other psychics when they have a client that needs additional help, and may even have a background in psychiatry or talk therapy.

But the stories of good psychics aren’t interesting to the press, and many are left wondering “are psychics real?” after reading negative articles.

Are Psychics Real? How Can I Tell?

Let’s move on to the ways you can test and study your psychic to figure out whether or not they’re the real deal.

  • If they’re approaching you in public, it’s not a good sign: Qualified psychics don’t need to “seek out” clients, and they also respect that some people wouldn’t want to know, or simply don’t believe in, any “bad energy” they feel. Plus, if a “psychic” comes up to you claiming there’s a curse on you and that “only they can lift it” – it’s a common scam. Ignore them and keep walking.
  • If your psychic only talks about themselves during the reading: This isn’t just a sign that they’re unqualified (if they were, they’d be quiet and do the reading, right?) but it may also mean that they’re starting to spin a web of lies about their past and experience. It’s like a therapy session – you don’t go to hear your therapist talk about her problems at home.
  • If they’re badmouthing other psychics: The psychic community is known for its support and communication. If yours is trashing another’s reputation, it’s likely only to make themselves look better – and that person may have tried to expose them in the past. End the reading and leave.
  • If they’re working off of fear: They’re not the real deal. This is a disgusting practice that preys on people in a tough place in life. Your reading should leave you feeling empowered with knowledge, not shaking in terror that “the worst is yet to come” or that bad things will happen if you stop seeing your psychic. Nothing will happen – except they won’t get the money they’re trying to con you out of.
  • If they’re on a hotline: Not all psychic hotlines are scammers, but especially if you’re new to the world of psychic healing, it’s best to see your psychic in person. It’s hard to get a clear answer to the “are psychics real” question when you can’t tell if someone on the other end of the line is reading from a script or sitting in a call cell with ten other scammers.
  • If their fees are crazy high: It may not be a bad sign – but you should look online or ask around to see if what they’re charging is standard. If they’re charging you to perform a curse-lifting or a special ceremony, especially if it’s your first session, it’s likely a scam – they should begin only by charging you for your specific reading.

Questions To Ask Your Psychic

To get the answer to your first question, “Are psychics real?” Ask yours…

  • How long they’ve been in practice
  • If they have references you can speak to
  • The size of their client base
  • How private their space is (if they don’t have an office or designated reading space in their home, it’s not a good sign)

Be sure to also do a little online research and to read the reviews others have left about a psychic before you book an appointment.

Beware of “Psychic Dependance”

Another way to avoid being taken advantage of by frauds? If you’re at “rock bottom” in your life, wait until things get even slightly better before you make an appointment with a psychic.

Some highly unethical people will take advantage of you if they sense you’re at your lowest point, and will lead you on with promises of “more answers next time” or insist that they have the power to influence the outcome of your life if you keep seeing them.

Such terrible “practices” incur a phenomenon called “Psychic Dependance” – where you’ll feel a compulsive need to see your psychic or contact them daily for their input about even minor decisions in your life.

Many frauds will often bump up your charge under the guise of giving “last minute” advice. They’ll likely also try to sell you special “potions,” fake amulets, or other shoddy spiritual tools to earn more money.

Let’s get one thing straight: if you have to ask yourself, “Are Psychics real?” when visiting your own, it’s likely they’re not really interested in helping and guiding you – they’re just after your money.

Reality check: even if you’ve familiarized yourself with all the signs and signals of fraud listed here, these people are always evolving and coming up with new ways to scam you.

The best advice?

Follow your intuition. If you’ve got a bad feeling about someone, it’s really best to cut your losses and move on. Don’t be lured back if they try to contact you again – go with your gut.
